The
long-held vision of Syd Payne - banjo enthusiast and top engineer - to own a
banjo featuring all titanium hardware, finally became a reality in 2004 when he
commissioned James Bowen to construct an instrument using the titanium parts he
had made himself.
The
resulting banjo was a huge success, strikingly beautiful, the titanium parts
contributed to a unique sound of bell like tone with astounding clarity.
Encouraged
by the enthusiastic reception of this instrument Syd now produces his own line
of banjos under the TITAN BANJOS banner. Production is small scale and to the
highest of standards and these banjos are just about the best that money can
buy.

NOTE: Titanium, a difficult metal to produce, is extremely light but
immensely strong and it is impervious to corrosion. It is also very hard to work
and extremely expensive to buy. The fact that sound travels through it three
times faster than through brass obviously has something to do with the
astonishing and original sound of the finished instrument.
